Other Transit Programs

Transit Link

The Senior Transportation Program (STP) was eliminated effective March 1, 2010 and replaced by Hennepin County dial-a-ride bus service called Transit Link. This program is an initiative of the Metropolitan Council. The service area includes all communities within Hennepin County. However, to ensure Transit Link service does not duplicate regular route service, each trip request will be evaluated for eligibility. To be eligible for Transit Link, the trip must not be possible by regular route transit.

Service hours are Monday through Friday 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. All buses will have wheelchair lifts. Ride reservations will be taken up to five business days in advance at 651-602-5465 or 651-602-LINK.

Fares are based on the distance traveled. For trips less than 10 miles, passengers pay $2.25 each way. For trips between 10 and 20 miles, the fare is $4.50 each way. And for trips greater than 20 miles, riders pay $6.75 each way. For complete details or questions regarding Transit Link, please contact the Metropolitan Council at 651-602-1000. You must first be registered with Metro Mobility before you are eligible to use the service. The registration process includes a medical doctor's certification of the disability.

There are no restrictions on the trips purpose or destination within the service area and service times. The service area and service times do vary throughout the Twin Cities Metropolitan Area. The service cannot be used for emergency medical purposes.
