The Food Channel has named home food preservation its #1 food trend for 2011 citing consumers’ interest in food safety, simplicity, and year-round fresh flavor. The Maple Grove Farmers Market is a fantastic part of this back-to-the-future endeavor, supplying the freshest possible produce from trusted local growers.
With generous support from the Ball Canning Company, the Maple Grove Farmers Market will provide home canning advice, demonstrations, and resources to customers throughout the 2011 Market season.
Information
Every week at the Farmers Market, shoppers will be able to pick up a free copy of Ball’s Beginner’s Guide to Canning and Recipe Booklet, featuring step-by-step instructions for canning as well as a variety of recipes. A new recipe for delicious home-canned foods will also be available weekly, as will a complete display of canning equipment with step-by-step instructions.
Links to canning information and recipes will be provided on the Maple Grove Farmers Market website and Facebook page.
Canning Demonstrations
On select Thursdays throughout the season Market Vendors will provide six on-site canning demonstrations, featuring produce at the peak of its flavor and freshness. Berries, beans, cucumbers, apples, tomatoes and much more will be featured. A full calendar of canning and chef demonstrations will be available soon.
Free Stuff!
- Drawings for valuable canning equipment, including Ball Blue Books and Ball Canning Discovery Kits will be held each week.
- Giveaways of canning ingredients, including pectin, salsa mix, and Fruit Fresh, will be held in conjunction with each canning demonstration.
- High-value coupons for Ball canning supplies will be available weekly.
