The Arbor Committee is an eleven member citizen advisory committee which focuses on the beautification of the City through tree planting and the preservation of the natural environment and urban forest. The committee's mission includes the preservation and protection of existing forests, encouragement of citywide natural resource planning and public education and awareness of natural ecosystem issues.
Maple Grove has been a designated Tree City USA city since 1986. Tree City USA, sponsored by the National Arbor Day Foundation, is a national program which recognizes cities that have established tree boards or departments that have enacted ordinances relating to tree care; that have an established forestry program with an annual budget of at least $2 per capita and that observe an annual Arbor Day event.
