| Maple Grove Fire-Rescue recruits firefighters annually. All applicants must currently reside within a five minute response to one of our five fire stations. If you are a motivated individual, physically fit, and over the age of 18, this may be the opportunity for you to serve your community and gain valuable training.
No previous training or experience is needed. As a minimum, the Department trains all personnel as First Responders (40 hours medical), Fire Fighter I, and Hazardous Materials Operations. Many other courses are offered through the VocTech for those who want to extend their training. All pre-approved training is provided at the Fire Department’s expense. A high level of proficiency is maintained through drills that are conducted twice a month.

Members of the fire department are required to attend a minimum of 45% of the fire calls dispatched to their respective stations when not at their regular job and to attend 66% of the monthly "in-house" training drills provided by the fire department
In addition to the exhilaration of serving the community with pride, firefighters receive monetary compensation. Firefighters are compensated for time spent on fire calls, drills, and required training. Additionally, firefighters receive a generous pension.
Classes begin in February each year. To be considered for an interview, applications for must be received no later than August 31st. The hiring process includes an interview, ability, background, medical, and psychological exams. After successful completion, applicants attend orientations before training begins in February.
